In states like Minnesota workers have the right to cease work where there is an imminent threat to their health and safety. ICE is that threat. Their presence involves workers getting assaulted or murdered. Using OSHA regulations like this leads to a different species of stop work compared to a strike for economic demands or a ULP.
It becomes a species of disaster organising. Disaster organising ensures basic worker and social safety in the midst of a breakdown in a community’s lived experience of capitalism. This is where we can draw the throughline been the ICE operation in Minnesota and the ongoing climate breakdown.
I respectfully disagree. By holding non-violence as a virtue you are setting a boundary that they will need to cross first in a given situation. It is saying we can met you politics by other means with conflict by other means.
