Ongoing political organising is vital. I wonder, as part of this push, what scope there is for institutional reform that encourages continued working-class political participation. For instance, Seattle’s municipal voucher election funding program or forms of participatory budgeting within the overall municipal budget. The latter itself encourages associational democracy, and thus, can help build people power.

None of this is of course to suggest a technical fix for the need for ongoing worker organising but rather the scope for a new NYC administration to tip the rules of engagement in favour of further worker participation without using significant political capital.
